Guest Blog: With Alexandra Forry - Wildflower Book Tour & Giveaway

Title: WILDFLOWER
Author Name: ALEXANDRA FORRY

Hello, I’m Alexandra Forry author of Timeless Endings. For this Guest post today, I shall reveal 10 Things readers would be surprised to know about me. I invite you to join me with coffee or tea, sit back and enjoy getting to know me a bit better.

1. I was born with cerebral palsy, the doctor's told our family that I would not be able to talk or walk. That’s wasn’t the case for me, it dose effects my motor-skills, speech and walking other than that, I am like anybody else. I lead a normal life the best as I can! All of my true friend can look past my disability and see me.

2. I am sometime mistaken for someone with severe developmental disabilities. Good-hearted but ignorant people patronize me, speaking to me in the slow condescension used to talk to toddlers. People “baby” me or when I’m with my friends people say something to my friends about me and not talk to me. This drives me crazy! Not all people with cerebral palsy have severe developmental disabilities. I am very thankful for who I am.

3. My first book OMERTA AFFAIR has the same story line as TIMELESS ENDINGS but OMERTA has too much off color language and a lot of sexual language so I took out the colorful language and made the story’s main love scene more romantic. If you read both books you see that I renamed the son.

4. OMETA AFFAIR was started out as a fanfac (fanfiction) to the 1995 movie Casino. Until someone told me to change the names and write it as a book.

5. I love Black and White cats! I have always had one around since I was little.

6. I’m friends with a lot of different people, a big time mobster, a producer/writer, a CIA operative, a news journalist, law officers, and true crime authors out of pure damn luck.

7. I moved around as a kid. Lived in a small town in Utah, Portland Oregon, and Southern California but I’m glad that I moved back home to where I was born, Las Vegas Nevada. I’m a Vegas Girl at heart.

8. I am very pirate about my love life and my book that I’m working on.

9. My all-time favorite wine is a fine moscato.

10. Umm, I love the color purple!

I want to thank this blog for the big honor of having me and my book Timeless Ending on this blog today. If you have any questions or comments, I will be happy to answer then.

Thanks for stopping by and happy reading. Alexandra Forry

Excerpt One:

“Why don’t we open a business? Like a simple sandwich and coffee shop,” Sydney announced with a glimmer of hope in her eyes.
“A sandwich shop?” Blanche asked, looking surprised and a bit taken aback.
“Yeah, why not?”
While Sydney waited for an answer, Blanche just looked at her, dumbfounded
“Sydney, I would love to open a sandwich shop, but it takes a lot of money--money that we just don’t have.”
“Oh please, Aunt Blanche! I bet you can get a loan from the bank. It will be exciting!” Sydney pleaded.
“I don’t think that your uncle will approve. Sydney I love your idea, truly do! I was taken aback at first, because it has always been a dream of mine to open a little shop of some kind on Main Street,” Blanche said wistfully. ”It costs a lot of money to open up a business, besides I have an offer for a job in Prescott.”
“Pooh on Uncle Dean, and turn down that job. For me, please? You can ask Annette how to open a business--she will know, since she owns her own business.” Sydney said begging her aunt.
“I will think about it, okay, Sydney?” Blanche said making her way to her closet and picking out a dress.

Welcome to BK Walker Books Etc. I'm so happy you could have me today at your home in the Midwest.

BK: Looking out the nearest window, describe the scene you see.
SKM: I'm looking out the window of my office. It's still overcast from the rain and fog we've had the last couple of days, but the sun is trying to peek through. I don't know if the sun will make it, but if it does it will shine on multicolored trees in our area.

BK: Tell us about your office. Is it a mess like mine, or is everything in its place?
SKM: LOL It's a total mess. I have a lot of filing to do.

BK: What is a must-have, such as coffee or a favorite pen, that you need to write?
SKM: I must have two cups of coffee to start the day with. After that, I must have my cervical pillow for my back to make me sit straight.

BK: Do you like to write in silence, or do you need music or background noise?
SKM: I need absolute silence. So many writers can have music or the television on, but not me.

BK: Tell us a bit about your hero/heroine, and their development.
SKM: My heroine, Carolyn Madison, experienced rape from her ex
during their separation before their divorce. The hero, Walt Tollhouse, was in love with Carolyn when she was too young for them to be together because he was older. He left and when he came back she was married. Their story is about family secrets and trying to hold them together during tragedy.

BK: As a writer myself, I'm always curious how other writers get through stumble blocks. When you find a story not flowing, or a character trying to fight you, how do you correct it?
SKM: I have to step away from writing the story, but I have it on my mind all the time. It always works out. Sometimes, I'll be coming out of a deep sleep or doing something else, and the answer comes to me.

BK: Using the letters of your first name as an acronym, describe your book...
SKM: I'm terrible doing these, and I don't like puzzles either. lol

BK: How did your writing journey begin?
SKM: I blame my sweet talking man for this journey. He didn't think reading was useful, but writing would be accomplishing something. I think he's sorry for starting me to write. lol Men, they need attention.

BK: Using the letters from the word, Summer, how would friends and family describe you?
SKM: Sunny, unstable, mother hen, mayhem, easy to get along with, ready for anything.

BK: What is the craziest thing you've ever written about, whether it got published or not?
SKM: I wrote a story set in Hong Kong and used everything in the story that happened there. lol It never got published.

BK: Tell us one thing you've done in life, that readers would be most surprised to know.
SKM: I'm 69 and I ride on the back of my husband's Suzuki Burgman 400 series motor scooter, and he's 77..

BK: What can we expect from you in the future?
SKM: I have a short story coming out next year. The temporary title is Hitting Bottom. It will have to be changed because it's misleading. I'm working on another short story and had hoped to have it finished today, but since there's no rush I'm just taking my time. I, also have a novel I'm working on.

Large Base The Catalyst Working copyDescription:

Dark revelations and secret love lead to personal resurrection.

Carolyn Madison didn't kill her husband but didn't mourn him either. The rapist deserved to die, or at least she thought so. Beneath a myriad of family secrets, Carolyn drags the skeletons out of the closet and in the arms of her true love, learns to love again.

Walt Tollhouse has pined for Carolyn since she was a shy seventeen-year-old. Little did he know Robert Dubois would steal her away, and then destroy the beautiful spirit he still loved? Beneath the guise of clean-up man, the martial arts instructor never pushes his battered love but gives her silent support she deserves.

Excerpt:

Robert rolled his window down, fanning himself as he waited for the cars in front of him to exit. He’d run the company since the death of Carolyn’s father and hadn’t expected to see her at the party tonight.

She’d never taken an interest in the casinos while she raised the kids, but then she hadn’t needed to. He’d paid child support and maintenance to impress old man Madison, so she hadn’t needed to work, but she’d gotten an accounting degree. Hell, she could’ve been working at the firm. He wouldn’t have known it; he didn’t spend any more time there than he had to. She wouldn’t risk coming face to face with him unless she’d found out about his dealings.

Damn, she had to be onto him; otherwise she’d never chase him. He was in deep trouble, and he didn’t want to get into it with the ex-soldier before he left town.

Even though the old man had always treated him like a son, for the last few months he’d ignored Robert. He’d been left out of the loop and treated like a piece of shit by Madison before he died.

Suddenly, a figure rose outside his door. Before he could act, someone grabbed him by the collar and jerked his head through the window.

“You bastard. Come out here, you asshole,” Walt roared. “Time to learn some manners, Dubois.”

Stunned, Robert instinctively hit Walt in the jaw and yanked himself back inside the car. Damn. He had to get away from this madman. Robert tried to roll up the window while trying to push Walt out. “What are you talking about?” Damn these cars. Why don’t they move?

“You know what I mean.” Walt grabbed the handle, trying to open the door. “Get out here. Time you fight someone your own size.”

The car in front of them took off. Without even looking for traffic, Robert tromped on the accelerator, exiting the lot. The son of a bitch still hung on, running beside him.

“It’s not over, Dubois,” Walt hollered and let go.

Robert watched him in his rearview mirror. Walt hated him, and he suspected the man loved Carolyn from the way he hovered around her.

He’d only wanted to party one more night in his Kansas City casino. Barely seeing the road, he glanced at the railroad tracks and the trees lining the Missouri river as he sped along Highway 210 and groaned. He needed to get the hell out of town if he wanted to stay alive, but he couldn’t just quit gambling cold turkey.

Twenty minutes later, Robert glanced over his shoulder before he entered his favorite casino. Good! No one he knew was around him. He took a handkerchief from his suit pocket and wiped it across his forehead. The stories about Walt’s skills and the way he took care of Madison’s enemies made him nervous. Although Tollhouse stayed in the background, Robert knew he was capable of anything.

Robert headed to the high stakes table to get his usual line of credit. He strode across the room and smacked into a man in a loud red shirt surrounded by a large, riotous group of people, but with only a scowl, he went on.

He threw ten one hundred dollar bills on the blackjack table. “Give me five blacks and the rest in green.” Tonight he had the cash to back it up; he had paid the loan shark. Absolutely, never again would he get indebted to him.

A waitress walked nearby, and he waved at her. “Scotch straight.” He placed a couple of black chips worth a hundred dollars a piece on his spot and watched the dealer throw the cards out one by one to the players.

Blackjack.

This time, he would leave the five blacks out. Someone sat beside him, and he glanced at the other player. Robert knew the man in the loud red shirt and greasy hair was a loser. He could spot them a mile away--he’d been snakebit. Quickly, Robert grabbed his chips before the cards were dealt.

“Here’s your drink, sir.”

“Thanks.” Robert handed her a green chip. He gulped the Scotch in one swallow and handed the glass back to the busty redhead. “I’ll take another, but I’ll be over there.” He pointed to the roulette table.

Moments later, Robert stood at the roulette wheel and called out, “Red,” as he placed a hundred on the table. The ball pinged around the wheel before it landed, then cheers went up. He’d won.

“Red again.” He let it all ride.

Cheers again.

People gathered.

“Here’s your drink, sir.” The waitress handed him a glass. Robert clasped the drink and dropped a green chip on her tray.

“One more time.” A hand clapped him on the back. Robert winced at the touch and the swarthy man in the red shirt leaned forward to place his tokens on red. “I’m going to clean up with you.”

The jinx had followed him, but he’d leave before the man’s luck rubbed off on him. Robert shrugged him off and picked up his tokens. He handed them to the croupier. “Give me black.”

“Damn you,” the red-shirted man yelled when he lost his money.

Robert had known the guy was a jinx, but with a glance at the fellow, a pang of fear coursed his body. Was the man following him? Could he work for the loan sharks? Hell, he could even be following him for his partner, Bill Rutherford. A couple of days ago, Bill had questioned him about the stocks. When Robert told him everything was going as scheduled, his partner had sounded as if he didn’t believe Robert.

Down Under with Angelina Rose - The Eyes of Love (Book Tour & Giveaway)

Welcome to BK Walker Books Etc. I'm so happy you could join me today at St Ives, a suburb of Sydney, in N.S.W., Australia. I've always wanted to go to Australia, so, thank you so much!

BK: Looking out the nearest window, describe the scene you see.

I live in the mountains … when I look to my right I overlook a Reserve, so I see trees, trees, and trees … in fact they're Eucalyptus trees but they don't have any koalas in them. Koalas do eat the leaves of the Eucalyptus but only specific ones … in fact only 100 out of the 800 species of Eucalyptus. I get to deal with snakes... although not today; they hibernate in the cooler weather.

BK: Tell us about your office. Is it a mess like mine, or is everything in its place?

It's really not my office, I "borrow" it from my husband. It's half and half… messy in some spots, organised in others. It depends on what I'm working on as to how much mess I have around me.

BK: What is a must-have, such as coffee or a favorite pen, that you need to write?

I do enjoy coffee to sip on while I'm writing. Sometimes though I prefer water with a splash of lemon.

I must admit I like my 2 dogs to sit nearby… and I'm lucky because they like to keep their eyes on me.

BK: Do you like to write in silence, or do you need music or background noise?

Silence just does not work for me. I love to keep up-to-date with the happenings in the world, and I love hearing people's opinions, so I have talk back radio on constantly. Without it, it's too quite and I then don't stay focused on my writing: my mind starts to wonder what is happening out there! I don't think radio announcers would want to be known as background noise, but that's what they are for me.

BK: Tell us a bit about your hero/heroine, and their development.

Sally is the heroine in "The Eyes of Love." In High School Sally experienced constant bullying from a gang of girls led by Stephanie who was dating Colin, the school hunk. In every way the gang stole Sally's confidence. No-one picked up on how she was being bullied, and due to the successful use of force and coercion to abuse and intimidate her, she mentioned none of it to one person, not even her mother.

When Sally completed High School, she left Mill Creek Crossing, studied and became an Attorney. Her best friend at college took her in hand, encouraged her, helped her with caring for herself, showed her how to dress and make herself look attractive. She started to blossom although she remained quite. She dated Richard and married him after just 6 months … she felt so grateful someone loved her, someone thought she was worth loving! Richard's love helped with Sally's healing… sadly Richard was killed leaving her with a young son, David, to care for alone.

Returning to Mill Creek Crossing to attend the 15 Year High School Reunion showed Sally how far she had come. No-one recognised her, she was beautiful and now quite sure of herself. After all, she had to argue for her clients in the courtroom, it was now time for her to argue for herself.

After dealing with Stephanie (the school bully) at the Reunion, it was obvious the "ugly duckling" had become the "beautiful swan" in so many ways. Now she could have and do whatever she set her mind to...

BK: As a writer myself, I'm always curious how other writers get through stumble blocks. When you find a story not flowing, or a character trying to fight you, how do you correct it?

I'm OK once I have the ideas I want to roll with. If I can't come up with anything, when I hit a stumble block, I've learned to close the door and walk away from writing for the day or days, if necessary. Often times I garden and work away the blockage to the flow of the story, by not even thinking about the story or the characters - this works for me. Often my answers come when I'm not consciously thinking about the story or the blockage.

So, it's a change of scenery plus letting all my thoughts about the story go… to concentrate on digging weeds, planting and pruning, or whatever else that needs doing in the garden. Whatever "problem" I have to deal with, I find going outdoors and becoming the gardener is what does the trick for me.

BK: Using the letters of your first name as an acronym, describe your book...

A Adorable main characters are Sally, a widow, and Colin, a divorcee. Colin met up again with Sally when she came back to Mill Creek Crossing for the 15 Year High School Reunion. He was staggered to find beautiful Sally who was
N no longer the "nerd" she claimed she was at High School. Colin was really impressed (putting it mildly), after starting a relationship with Sally to find he could cause her to feel "fireworks" when he was near her. His reaction after kissing Sally …
G "Gosh! Nice to know I can cause fireworks. Wow!" His wife had betrayed him with his best friend, so he was feeling some loss of confidence with how women would feel about him. This is an
E encouraging and inspiring romantic novella showing the "ugly duckling" can become the "beautiful swan" and conquer everything in her path.
L Love at first sight … maybe! There are
I intriguing twists and turns...
N Naughty but nice. It is really
A a sweet love story...

BK: How did your writing journey begin?

As a young girl I constantly made up short stories and poetry about my mother's neighbours and friends. They weren't always impressed though… they didn't always approve of my opinions of them or how I thought they looked!

My mother was a widow and struggled financially so I thought I would find competitions to enter where I had to write a story with the hope of winning the prize of money, or whatever was offered. I won several writing competitions before I was a teen. One prize my mother didn't like was a puppy who I called Sparkle! I ended up having to give him away...

Writing then took a back seat as I studied at High School and University. After qualifying as a Registered Nurse I spent a long period of time in hospital recovering from serious injuries the result of a hit and run. It was then I took up writing again… I entered a couple of my short stories in a competition for the fun of it and the judges liked them. It was then I thought: 'OK, maybe I can write just like Mum'. She used to write short stories and sell them to various Women's magazines.

When I discovered self-publishing was available, I nervously submitted various books to Amazon Kindle. It was a lot of trial and error and I am still learning…

So, my journey began as a young girl who really loved watching people and who made up stories about what was different about each person. Curiosity about people has continued through my life and I find it helps with the creation of characters and story lines…

BK: Using the letters from the word, Summer, how would friends and family describe you?

S Sociable
U Understanding
M Motivated
M Mediator
E Enthusiastic
R Responsible

BK: What is the craziest thing you've ever written about, whether it got published or not?

I find I write the craziest stories when I'm tired, often at the end of the day.

During a trip to Kakadu in the Northern Territory, a state in Australia, where crocodiles abound, I was amazed to hear crocodile eggs were often taken or should I say 'stolen' from the croc nest. This must have really bothered me … after all why would anyone want to get that close to a crocodile, let alone take their eggs! I could understand if this happened in a controlled environment, for example in a Zoo, but not in the wild. After all one of the top messages people are given when they visit the waterways in the NT, they need to be crosswise and stay safe.

I started to write a story about tourists visiting the NT and stealing crocodile eggs to take home as souvenirs. I had the mother crocodile running on her two back legs, chasing after the tourists saying "give me back my babies". I then had the crocodile tracking down the tourists to their homes in the hunt for the return of their eggs, which maybe had already hatched, and were now little crocodiles.

The story started to get crazier and crazier so I stopped writing. My original view was to submit it to the NT Tourist Bureau so they could distribute it and stop people from stealing croc eggs, and becoming crocodile dinner..

The truth of the story is this … the mother crocodile would have eaten the tourists and asked questions later. If you camp too close to the waterways, crocs have been known to come out of the water and visit the campers. Unfortunately, dogs, children and adults have been taken this way because they don't take notice of the signs and almost dare these creatures to come near them. You rarely stand a chance…

So that was one of my crazy storylines. And then there were the pirates ….

BK: Tell us one thing you've done in life, that readers would be most surprised to know.

I was one of the Rocky Horribles in the "Rocky Horror Show" in Sydney. I learned jazz dancing when I was a teen, I loved it. My friend was involved in producing the Rocky Horror Show and he thought I would make a great Rocky Horrible (how should I have taken that?). It was a lot of fun.

BK: What can we expect from you in the future?

I'm currently working on my next book which has a different feel to "The Eyes of Love" and my earlier writing. It is a love story but with a lot more suspense. I love mysteries and working out who done it: I imagine this will come through more in my future writing.

This or That...

Coke or Pepsi? Pepsi

Night Owl or Early Bird? Early Bird

Fantasy or Mystery? Mystery

Pen/Paper or Computer? Computer

Pizza or Burger? Neither. A burger would have a chance if it was a veggie burger though!

Thank you so much for having us as one of your stops today. It has been great getting to know more about you and your book, and wish you the best of success!

About Angelina Rose:

Angelina Rose has wanted to write ever since she could hold a pencil. The first daughter of immigrant parents, Angelina had her head buried in books, lost in a world of heroes, heroines and exotic places.

It was a shocking experience that jump-started Angelina's author career.

"I awoke in the ICU... I had been unconscious for several days," Angelina says.

In 2010, Angelina had a long stint in hospital following her involvement in a motor vehicle accident: the longest time off work (as a Registered Nurse), she'd ever had in her life!

It was then she took up pen and paper and started to write again, just as she had done when she was a child. She wrote four short fiction stories for young adults, entered them in several competitions, and managed to win three first prizes!

After happily dipping her toes into writing those short fiction stories for young adults, Angelina has now authored four books in a new "Mill Creek Crossing Romance" series... contemporary romance intended for adults.

The "Starting Over Series" is another contemporary romance series she wrote about a subject she knows well... nurses and their love life. At a recent reunion of her graduating class, she could not help but notice how the same girls would group together and laugh, chat, and even shed some tears over their lives since graduating. Many of the girls had divorced... so Angelina thought "what if a group of the nurses came up with a plan to meet in two years and have a new love story to share?" Then the first story in the series was born.

There is always a story running around in her head. A man with thick dark hair, gray-blue eyes, with an engaging smile and a quick wit... or a girl crying over a broken relationship. She finds herself talking to these characters during her day: when she's doing dishes, or bathing babies at the hospital. These characters crop up on days at the beach or on walks through the neighborhood. This is how the stories start to grow.
Angelina's mother was an author, so Angelina grew up with a love of words and stories. If she wasn't writing a short story about something that took her fancy, her head was buried in books... reading, reading, reading, as her brother constantly told her...

When she's not spending time with her goodlooking man, or quality time with her laptop, she's working at the hospital, hanging out with her family and friends, or walking her two dogs around the neighborhood. Angelina spends as much time as she can traveling, then coming home and including some of those adventures in her stories.

Angelina really loves to hear from her readers and she invites you to connect with her on Facebook as she interacts daily with her readers there!

"Well, if it isn't the handsome Colin Dean," she said fanning herself and smiling. Gracie was older than he was, but he remembered her younger sister, Eva, quite well. They'd all hung out together at parties when they were younger, and Gracie had been a fixture at Stella's for years even though she recently came into some inheritance money.
"Hey, sweetie," he said kissing her on the cheek. Women loved Colin because he made them feel good, and he was always kind. Stephanie hadn't been able to take that away from him.
"I'll never wash this cheek again," she said touching her face and smiling. "How are you, honey?" she asked with a frown.
"Hanging in there."
"I hate to see you so sad, Colin," she said sliding into the booth across from him.
"I'll be fine, Gracie."
"I know you will, but if you ever need to talk..."
"Thank you, but I don't. Not yet anyway. The divorce was finalized last week."
"I'm so sorry about Stephanie, but she was never good enough for you."
"Gracie..." he said shaking his finger at her.
"It's true. Ask anybody. That woman is trouble with a capital T. Always has been," Gracie said, refusing to mince her words. She'd despised Stephanie since she first met her.
"Glad you're always on my side, sweetie," he said rubbing her hand and laughing. "I sure wouldn't want you on my bad side!"
"Good thinking. Oh, crud, I've got a customer," she said as she slid out of the booth and headed back up to the counter.
"Dean!" he heard a voice call from behind him. It was one of his baseball buddies, Cal Erwin. "How are ya, man?"
"Good. Where've you been lately?" Colin asked as Cal dropped down into the seat.
"Well, I went out to California to visit my brother for a few months. Played in a band out there and gathered up lots of ladies along the way," he said grinning.
"Glad you had a good time."
"Where's Steph?" Cal asked.
"I have no idea. We're not married anymore," Colin said as he looked at his menu.
Cal's mouth dropped open. "What?"
"We divorced, Cal. She screwed Jazz and I walked in on them." Cal's mouth dropped open yet again.
"Dude..."
"You know, we're not sixteen anymore. You should stop saying dude," Colin said with a chuckle.
"I'm sorry, man. I had no idea."
"No biggie," he lied.
"I can't believe Jazz..."
"Look, can we not talk about it? It's kind of old news, and I'm really done discussing it," Colin said pointedly.
"Sorry. So, are you skipping the reunion then?"
"Of course not. Why would I?

Book Description:

Fate rides on the wings of life, steering life along its unforeseen journey, thus fulfilling one’s destiny. Fate can also bring two paths to cross, though traveling in opposite directions, lives that had once ran parallel. So it was in the lives of Trevor Logan and Faith Thomas, two paths traveling parallel, destined to be one at a young age. Then came a sinister plan, painted with pictures of deception, sending their lives reeling in opposite directions. But after over twenty years, fate caused their paths to cross once again, by way of an unusual chain of events. Their paths crossed just when Faith’s life was in danger, leaving Trevor to risk his own to save hers, thus keeping a strange promise he had made to her father—over twenty years before.

It was a beautiful Saturday morning, Graduation Day, and blue skies stretched from one side of heaven to the other, with a few white clouds dotted here and there just to add a bit of color. A temporary stage sat on the football field, adorned in blue and white, the school colors. The banners waved gently in the warm tender breeze, as if waving farewell to the seniors seated before them. The principal, vice principal and guidance counselor all sat up on the stage, with Faith’s father as well, who was to give a prayer to begin the ceremony. The bright faces of seventy-six seniors sitting in folding chairs faced them, eagerly waiting to begin the next phase of their lives. They were seated in alphabetical order with the men wearing blue and the ladies in white. The bleachers adjacent the stage were filled with proud parents, including Trevor’s mom and dad.
On cue, Mr. Thomas rose and approached the microphone. He gave a short speech on how proud he was of each senior, and especially the one of his own. After embarrassing Faith, he proceeded with a very beautiful prayer for the graduating class. The principal then took over, giving a short dignified speech. The vice principal then added a speech of his own, pointing out some humorous events that happened this past year. The football field echoed with laughter, at the expense of certain humiliated seniors. The principal then came forward to begin handing out diplomas as the vice principal called out the names of each graduate.
All seventy-six seniors made their way across the stage and back to their seats, where they all stood eagerly waiting for the announcement, to then throw their caps high into the air in celebration. The principal gazed out over the graduates, as an unusual smirk grew upon his face. He then made a most unusual request, calling Faith Thomas back to the stage. All eyes fell curiously upon Faith as she made her way through her classmates and then slowly onto the stage. Faith wore a confused expression as she stared into her father’s smiling face. His glassy eyes then turned to her rear—causing hers to follow. To her surprise, Trevor was approaching, wearing a smirk of his own.
Trevor stepped close, placing her hands within his. “Faith,” he said with a twinkle in his eyes, “I pledge my whole heart and soul to you…today and for all the tomorrows that the Lord will bless me with.” He lowered to a knee, his sneakers and blue jeans peeking out from under his graduation gown. Faith’s mouth dropped and eyes watered, as all the girls in the crowd squealed. “Faith, will you marry me?” he asked as silence fell—all waiting for her reply.
With tears of joy streaming down her cheeks, Faith watched as Trevor opened a tiny black velvet box, revealing what she thought was the most beautiful ring she had ever laid eyes on. Everyone in the audience quietly waited for her response. Too choked up to speak, she nodded in agreement as Trevor slipped on the ring. The crowd erupted in celebration, as the graduating class yelled while throwing their caps high into the air.
But not everyone shared in the excitement. One particular senior still sat in her seat with her cap still on her head, glaring through tear-stained eyes at the happy couple on stage. All her hopes and dreams were laid to waste by a tiny diamond ring. With Faith away at college, and Trevor at home attending the nearby community college, Denise had planned on turning up the heat on her pursuit for Trevor. With Faith gone and not running interference, it would be only a matter of time before Trevor would give in to his desires. She was attractive enough to weaken the knees of any devout man, which left an eighteen-year-old hormonal machine without a prayer of surviving her seduction.
