"Jack Canon's American Destiny tells a heartfelt story of people caught up in extreme circumstances, torn among passion, family, beliefs and aspirations," says Greg Sandora, the author of the book. "The story revolves around the universal battle between wealth and poverty and then soon evolves into a thrilling ride as elements of espionage, geo-politics, passion, deception and even murder emerge all around Jack Canon's life as he puts his very being on stake for his beliefs in pursuit of his true destiny!"

Being touted by many as one of those intense political thrillers that simply deserve to be made into a movie, Jack Canon's American Destiny is equally powerful on its own as a book that is extremely immersive. A reader can literally get involved so as to live and breathe in the world of Jack Canon, share his full range of concerns, from picayune to grandiose, consisting of things that are close to every American's heart.

Cleverly written, sprinkled with the right amount of 'spice' to keep the level of interest high, 'Jack Canon's American Destiny' is a tale that truly engrosses its readers. Great characterization by the author helps readers get involved in and care about the outcome of the story and how it turns out for Jack Canon, a charismatic leader running for Presidency, and Sandy Collins, his beautiful best friend, someone for whom Jack rightly feels that it's hard having a friend this beautiful!

"The reason why the first novel has proved to be an instant hit is that Jack Canon is a character that every reader can easily identify with. You can relate to his positive traits and even his minor character flaws, and mostly you can relate to his will and determination to get the presidency," added the author. "It is a captivating story about a man who truly believes in and pursues his destiny. What makes the story all the more endearing are the tender romantic elements, the suspense and action, the beautiful women and the relationships between best of friends."

The book has particularly resonated with readers, both men and women, who share an affinity for action, adventure and suspense woven with tender romance in their stories!

"The recent upheaval in the global economy, the reasons behind it and America's struggle to pull itself out of the abyss inspired me to conjure up the character of Jack Canon and write 'Jack Canon's American Destiny'. The story subtly directs the reader's attention to corruption at the highest levels of the government, something I just love to write about," speaking on the inspiration for his new book, the author says. "As an author, I have taken a little liberty of weaving in some situations and circumstances into the story, which have been inspired by real life experiences of my own and those of people around me to make it all the more interesting as I do believe that reality could be as exciting as fiction, if not more!"

The readers will find the book to be an extremely fast paced political thriller that also features an equally exciting story of love and passion. The characters go through a myriad of emotions and circumstances as the story quickly unfolds in the dynamic settings that the author creates.

I’m originally from the Portland, Maine area and lived and worked there for years before moving to Southwest Florida. I am currently working on the sequel to Jack Canon’s American Destiny – which will be titled Jack Canon Clean Sweep. The sequel will be available in about three months.

My Dad and Mom were artists, my father painted and my mother wrote poetry and loved to garden. Most Saturdays we loaded up the 1970 Chevy Impala to trek to a one man show somewhere or other. I took a different track graduating with a business degree; owning and operating an Award Winning Franchise Fitness Center. Currently a professional manager I am living in Florida with my beautiful wife and children, and following my passion.

Some of my other projects include a children’s book called Sammy the Sea Turtle – about an infant sea turtle taken from his nest the night he was to find his way to the sea. Sammy lives with the family until their son – the boy who took him, graduates from high school. On that day Sammy, backpack in tow – begins the long journey home.
My second project in the works involves angels – a man during a visit to Bar Harbor Maine encounters an angel; quite accidentally, he is told – she was not supposed to make him aware of her existence. Only three others have ever seen the real thing. Naturally he falls hopelessly in love with the beautiful creature.

"Wow - Great Read and Insight into Politics!"
~The Bookworm

The only thing that gave me a worse vibe than these two was Gene’s taste in decorating. The ceilings were about 30 feet high and three walls held books up to about the first 15 feet, after which was a very large landing around three quarters of the room. The wall opposite the door was made up of five floor-to-ceiling arched windows. The bottom six feet of each had colonial muttons and were partially opened, allowing the outside winter cold to fight with the heat in the room. On the landings above the bookshelves were housed various artifacts of torture.
Gene saw me noticing, “These are from the collection of King Henry,” he boasted.
There were guillotines and stretching racks and other devices all made of aged wood and black iron. Some had big weathered chain links hanging from them and leather straps. There were black iron turning wheels, the sight was gruesome.
Gene motioned to a large axe with a semicircular blade and an unusually long, thick handle.
This is my prized piece of the entire collection – the axe used to behead Katherine, Henry’s youngest bride.” Mounted next to the axe, on a polished cherry post, was a scrap of parchment.
Next to it, carved in gold lettering over black onyx, was inscribed an onlooker. The parchment had faded to an almost illegible degree and was kept behind glass.
Gene said, “The onlooker’s account is sealed in helium, just like the Declaration of Independence, to preserve it. I’ve had it authenticated by historians, expert in the period.” The words were transferred onto the stone.
The eerie account told of the misty morning when the helpless fair-haired teenager, a mere girl, forced to lay under the weight of the wealth of England, was led to her death.
I read the inscribed: Queen Katherine emerged just before nine in the morning. A rain the night before had turned the courtyard muddy to our ankles. The streets containing the foul smell of chicken scratch and horse urine slurried into the mix. Gawkers’ pushed for position and strained to see the delicate fawn-like Katherine as she walked barefoot, clothed only in a very plain and simple linen dress. The exposed skin of her upper chest was so pale I could see the ghostly blue vein patchwork just beneath. The last time I had seen the young queen she was amazing, the most beautiful woman in all England.
Fancily dressed and bright, riding in an open coach smiling sweetly waving to her subjects, I fancied the thought our eyes might have met for a second.
Spill her blood!” A spectator called out. I thought, what cowards this mob, content to stand by and watch. Greedily clinging to their own lives–any one of which could be wrenched from him in a second.
This bitter gray morning, the little Queen made her way slowly up to the old worn wooden steps, pausing briefly, turning sad doe eyes back to the crowd. A pitiful thin waif of a child so helpless and demure, Katherine continued up the stairs carefully gripping the railing as if it were her mothers hand, that somehow she might be swept away from all this.
Once upon the platform, facing the crowd full on, her tiny limbs were exposed and pale, a simple dress hanging over her nearly shapeless frame. She wore no jewelry. Her one remaining vanity, long hair, perfectly combed. The henchman placed her firmly against the block and with a blank and helpless stare Katherine moved her beautiful locks to one side exposing her slender neck.
I waited for her to jump to her feet and scream out in defiance, “What have I done that your precious King isn’t guilty of?”
Laying her head sideways on the block, she awaited her fate in silence.
The black-hooded killer appeared to us like a giant standing over her. A moment before, even the handle of the axe and the blade had been taller than the living little queen. He drew back.
I heard the neck cracking then a thud as the girl’s head crashed to the platform floor. Steam rose from the blood pouring in a warm pool from the lifeless body slumped behind the block.
Gene Hobbs had acquired the only known account of the gruesome event; one can imagine that onlookers must have rushed to write on whatever they could find to recount the scene. The metaphor of the rich over the poor and the machinery of torture in the room made me shudder. Reading the narrative, I felt sickened by the horror of the day, for lost innocence and the tyranny of the time. What a waste of a beautiful young life; what a disgrace for England.

Chatting With Author Alison Neuman - Ice Rose Book Tour & Giveaway

Interview Questions for BK Walker Books Etc.

Welcome to BK Walker Books Etc. I'm so happy you could join me today at Alberta, Canada.

BK: Looking out the nearest window, describe the scene you see.

An apple tree with small green apples. A garden filled flowers and vegetables. Planted off the side is a green spruce tree that is skinny and small for its age but that has a special place in our family.

BK: Tell us about your office. Is it a mess like mine, or is everything in its place?

Everything on my desk is a bit messy. I require items to be within reach so it is more cluttered than organized.

BK: What is a must-have, such as coffee or a favorite pen, that you need to write?

My must-have is my desk in my office. While I can also write by hand, due to the arthritis in my fingers, it takes me forever to write. Where as, with my keyboard, I’m so used to typing that my fingers can almost keep up with the ideas before they vanish.

BK: Do you like to write in silence, or do you need music or background noise?

I love to have music playing in the background when I am writing. Usually to set the mood. If I am writing an emotional scene then a ballad works well.

BK: Tell us a bit about your hero/heroine, and their development.

Elissa is a strong girl who suddenly experiences a disability that shatters everything she has ever known. While she shares some of my experiences with experiencing a disability, she is fearless. No adventure scares her away. She is headstrong and will keep with something until it comes to a conclusion she approves of.

Elissa grew from an idea of how a person experiencing a disability will manage in the world of secret agent. Such a world is not accessible, so it was a challenge to find her place where she could not only exist but also to thrive.

BK: As a writer myself, I'm always curious how other writers get through stumble blocks. When you find a story not flowing, or a character trying to fight you, how do you correct it?

The best method I have found is to go out in the real world and sit, maybe in a food court at a mall and observe people. Real people having conversations and interacting, along with a change of space, seems to block any stumble blocks.

BK: Using the letters of your first name as an acronym, describe your book...

Action
Love of a parent
Inspiring
Symphony of orchestrated moves
Obstacles
Negotiations

BK: How did your writing journey begin?

I began writing stories when I was a child. As a teen, I wrote lyrics and poems. As a young adult, I wrote stories and screenplays. It was not until college age I decided to pursue writing as a career.

BK: Using the letters from the word, Summer, how would friends and family describe you?

Smart
Understanding
Mentor
Memorable
Eclectic
Role model

BK: What is the craziest thing you've ever written about, whether it got published or not?

The craziest thing that I have ever written about was about a character who was a healer. He is the central character of a young adult novel. Hindsight has yet to be published as it is still in the early draft stages. It is different to write about an ability with no practicalities or regulations such as in reality,

BK: Tell us one thing you've done in life, that readers would be most surprised to know.

Despite using a wheelchair, I have performed in a professional dance show called Orchesis Dance Motif.

BK: What can we expect from you in the future?

I have a memoir called Searching for Normal that will be released on November 16, 2013. Also would like to get Hindsight completed. The Ice Rose Series will also have another book coming.

Lines of Space by Devinder Kumar Dhiman (Book Tour & Giveaway)

Why I wrote this book?

Yesterday, someone asked me, "Why did you write this book?"
I was momentarily startled by the sudden and direct question, and before I could recuperate, next question was hurled at me- "Is it for money?"
I was quick to reply, "No, I earn good from my job, why should I worry?"
Then I heard the next one, "Is it for fame?"
I retorted," No, by nature, I like to keep by myself, I am not interested in that either."
"Then what?" probed the questioner.
"It is not straightforward to explain the motive behind writing this book," I countered and continued after a short pause," I had studied about Creation of the Universe through Big-bang and always wondered how that was possible? While investigating this phenomenon, I came across an idea that Universe may have got created from space itself, and my quest took a new turn. I spent many years to visualize the relation between space and matter. My calculations and rough diagrams mostly landed in the waste basket in a mutilated condition beyond recognition, for the fear of anyone discovering what I was working on, to save myself from embarrassment of trying to fix something which I was not considered capable of. When I sniffed success in my endeavor after years of collecting information on this subject secretly and countless hours of cogitating, my trepidation vanished and I started saving the calculations and diagrams. Now, I only had to add text details to make a case."
"So, why you chose to write a book instead of presenting your case to a science magazine?" I was interrupted.
"Not being a trained physicist, I was at a disadvantage. I also discovered that if the established laws are not adhered to, a new proposal is not considered valid by the science periodicals. My contemplations, though logical and mathematically correct, were in disagreement with some of the laws of physics. I was in a fix, and in the danger of squandering all my work without anyone evaluating it. My calculation and drawings were too arduous for any individual to understand."
"Is your book difficult to read?" Questioner got anxious.
"At that stage, it was very challenging, not now," I clarified and resumed my rejoinder," At that juncture, I decided to weave a story to make the content unpretentious by elucidating the prevalent theories from the fundamental level and then anatomizing them in relation to the core idea. Being a novice at writing, I learned the process of writing and publishing and subsequently the book was released after devoting three years to this process. This is how; the book 'Lines of Space' was born which explains how matter can originate from empty space. So, I wrote this book because I was confident that my concept is plausible, logical, innovative and unique."
"But, only you believe in your book, why anyone will read something which is not in agreement with present physics?" the questioner expressed reservations from the point of view of other readers.
"I am not the lone believer in this concept. Whosoever studied my concept, found it astounding and worth publishing, and persuaded me to share my view on conversion of space into matter with everyone irrespective of the fact that it gives a new dimension to certain laws of physics."
"Has anyone read it after its release?
"So far, scores of people have read this book, and I am getting good remarks from all of them. Latest comment made by one of my friends on Facebook is -[Gone through yr book…Excellent work…you hv got deep knowledge…a daring and revolutionary mind challenges the basic beliefs and practices, and you have done that through your book…that is remarkable!]"
"That is great! Wish you all the best for the success of your book."
"Thanks."

So, I wrote this book because I was confident that my work is truthful and innovative; and whosoever perused my concept, found it astounding and worth publishing, and persuaded me to share my view on conversion of space into matter with everyone."

Devinder Kumar Dhiman was born in 1965 in a small town near Chandigarh, in a middle class family. He completed his engineering graduation from the prestigious Marine Engineering and Research Institute in Kolkata. After graduation, he worked as an engineer on ship and also taught science and mathematics to XIIth standard students in a Coaching institute, in between the sailings. In 1997, he got his First Class Engineering Officer license from Directorate General of Shipping of India. After two years, he became head of the technical department of a Norwegian ship plying in international waters and continues to hold this position till date. He works on ship for about six months every year and devotes the remaining time to his interest of physics. He lives with his family in Panchkula- a beautiful town of north India.

Book Description:

'Lines of Space' is a unique and interesting approach to creation of matter from empty space. The Author has presented this notion by primarily discussing the established theories of physics in an interactive dialogue with his son in order to simplify them and then comparing them with the new idea of 'Lines of Space'. The author conjectured that, in the beginning of the Universe, there was dense uniform space which converted into matter by contraction and caused different stresses in the remaining space, which in turn gave rise to fundamental forces. The author developed mathematical formula to find this stress at various locations in the universe and established its relation with cause of Gravitation, bending of Light, expansion of the Universe, Theory of Relativity and creation of subatomic particles. Thus, he has presented in this book, an absolutely new, ground-breaking, plausible and fascinating look in to the world of physics where all matter in the universe is created from space itself and the fundamental forces subsist due to stress in the 'Lines of Space'.

Praise for Lines of Space:

This is a fascinating new look into the world of physics and Science. I think your way of presenting the material through discussion with your children is innovative and well done.”---Editor of Book-Editing- Services

“I found it very interesting, I also like your style, and can just say, keep on going, you have talent.”---Dragan Bebic, Technical Superintendent

“New concept of Lines of Space has made me understand the universe and creation of matter in a very simple manner which has been given with adequate proof, hard to negate.”---Capt Sharat Kumar, Master Mariner.

'Lines of Space' concept explains laws of physics really well and gives a relation between strong nuclear force, electrostatic force and gravitational force. Thus, overall the book is a must read and the theories discussed have the potential to change science in a better way.”--- Nikhil Dhiman, Student Engineering

Author has presented the theories of science in a very good analytical way with experimental proof, mathematical calculations and original stories of different inventions.” --Bibhash Ranjan Datta, Electrical Engineer

Excerpts:
Excerpt No.1

I was delighted that Sahil had started showing some interest in science. Next day he had another question ready for me when I came home from the factory.
Daddy, I have read about quarks but I don’t understand them,” he pronounced, and then asked, “Can you explain this to me?”
Both protons and neutrons are composed of elementary particles called quarks,” I told him. “There are six types of quarks. Quarks having a charge of +2/3 are called Up-Quarks and quarks having a charge -1/3 are called Down-Quarks. Protons are composed of two up-quarks and one down-quark, while a neutron consists of one up-quark and two down-quarks. This distinction accounts for the difference in mass and charge between the two particles.
How?”
If you add two up- quarks and one down-quark, what do you get,” I asked Sahil.
2 x (+2/3) + (-1/3) = 3/3= +1, calculated Sahil quickly.
Now add one up-quark and two-down quarks,” I told him.
(+2/3) + 2 x (-1/3) = 0.”
Now you see that the first case of combination of quarks resulted in the formation of proton having positive charge +1 and in the second case, this combination formed a neutron having no charge.”
But it seems that mathematical juggling has been used to prove the existence of quarks,” advocated Sahil.
Yes, you may be right,” I agreed with him. “But we don’t have any better explanation so we have to follow this until we get one,” I added. “These quarks are held together by the strong nuclear force, which gluons mediate.”
What are gluons?” asked Sahil.
They must be like glue which keep the quarks together,” interrupted Ritika. I almost agreed with her unintentionally.
The gluon is a member of gauge boson family.”
Now, what is this gauge boson?” asked Sahil.
These are elementary particles that mediate physical forces.”
How?”
You know that when electrons or protons hit other particles, they transfer some force to them.”
Yes.”
This transfer of force is done by these particles such as bosons and photons.”
Why can’t electrons and protons do this job by themselves?” asked Ritika.
I don’t know,” I gave honest answer. “But there is something interesting to know about bosons.”
What?” asked Ritika.
Boson is the name derived from its inventor Satyender Nath Bose.”
You mean an Indian invented this particle!” they were surprised.
Yes, he stayed in West Bengal and he also worked with Einstein.”
Tell us more about him,” they asked me.
You can check on the internet,” I suggested.
Daddy, there have been many hits and trials, assumptions, experiments, errors and corrections done by scientists to reach the present level of knowledge of science,” stated Sahil.
Yes, you’re right. Many times, the theories put forward by scientists were found wrong by experiments carried out later and then scientists had to correct themselves,” I agreed with him. “But which particular gaffe you are referring to?”
First Thompson discovered electrons and changed the theory that the atom is indivisible. He put forward the Plum Pudding model of an atom where he proposed that an atom has negatively charged electrons in a sea of positive charge. This theory was again discarded when Rutherford gave his model.”
Yes.”
And after that, Rutherford suggested that electrons revolve around a nucleus, which was later refined by Bohr, who suggested that the electrons were confined into clearly defined, quantized orbits and could jump between these, but could not freely spiral inward or outward in intermediate states.”
And after that?” I pushed him.
Bohr’s model of fixed orbits was discarded in favor of orbitals of electrons.”
Well done! Now it seems that you have understood the structure of the atom,” I told him.
Thank you, Daddy.”
Thanks from me too,” added Ritika.
So, I had won a little battle by making him interested in at least one chapter of science that was common in physics and chemistry. But my mind was still hovering around his one question: where do the electrons get their negative charge. Today, he gave me one more thing to wonder. He had commented that the discovery of quarks was just mathematical juggling. I couldn’t disagree with his comment, why do up-quarks have +2/3 charge and down-quarks have –1/3 charge? And why do they combine in such a way that a proton becomes positively charged and a neutron becomes neutral? Why can’t (say) five down-quarks combine with one up-quark to form an electron, which should also have a mass equal to a proton and a charge opposite to a proton? There were many unanswered questions, and my chain of thoughts had started. I was going deeper and deeper in my deliberations when my wife called me to inform that dinner was ready and broke the chain.

Also A fan of writing in odd places like in bathtubs, under staircases, in a tree, or maybe zoo.

I was born in Montreal, Canada and a few years later my parents moved home to the States where I’m currently attending College.

I don’t know why I never thought about writing. As I was searching for a niche in everything else I was also writing stories about a girl searching for where she belongs and people my age going on wild adventures. One day a teacher of mine, Ms. E. McAllen, asked me what I loved to do and it finally hit me. I love being a storyteller. But I was afraid no one would want, or care to read what I had to say. Until another teacher, Ms. K. Cole gave me the pep talk that changed my life.

Book Synopsis:

To Who Ever This May Concern;

I wish I could tell you the contents of this book were purely fictional. That I, Adela Arthur, was just a normal sixteen year old from Portland and that dragons, giants, elves and mermaids were just myths. I wish these were legends shared from crazy old grandparents to crazy old grandparents around campfires. After all, that is what I used to believe.

I never would have thought they lived on the other side of our mirrors in a world called Cielieu. But they do…

I never would have thought there were humans, better known as Volsin that lived among them with the ability to create light from a single thought. But there are…

I never would have thought I was one of them… But I am…

I am the last Arthur and I was brought to the human world after a Volsin, filled with greed, began to strip the light from our kind.

The human world was supposed to be a safe haven… but he’s found us and the only way to stop him is to go back to Cielieu and begin training as a student in the Elpida Castle of Light.

Like I said I wish the contents of this book were purely fictional and not my life…

ADELA ARTHUR

Preface

S he ran because she had no other choice. She feared what would happen if she dared to stop. There was no time to think. There was barely any time for her to breathe. On her broken ankle, she ran. With her bruised arms, she ran. With her bleeding sides, she ran because she knew today was the day she was meant to die.
Her bare feet, covered with everything from wet dirt to dried, dead leaves to cold ice, took her farther into the forest. She jumped over the dark fallen log, not caring that the bottom of her pants snagged on the tip of it. She went on, running deeper, running faster, trying not to think. Thinking would stop her. Thinking would make her want to survive. Thinking would cause her to fight, and today she could not fight. She heard the screeches; she had seen their dark eyes. They were confirming what she already knew in her heart to be true. Today was the day she was meant to die.
Snow fell gently on her like small glimpses of hope. She loved the snow. But even today it, too, was against her. It knew. It blanketed the ground and froze her to her core. She slowed, but she didn’t stop running. Slowing was a mistake, though. Now she could feel the fatigue as it crept up inside her. She could feel the pain as it came into her ankle like burning knives slicing away at her. As the screeches rang through the forest, they too chilled her. Whether she slowed or not, she was meant to die today.
However, she had one choice, one option. What was to be her final ground? She had the choice of where she could die and it wasn’t going to be here. It wasn’t going to be in the depths of the dark forest. It would not be fatigue, or hunger, or even the evil creatures that dwelled inside that forest. She couldn’t die here. It wasn’t good enough.
She ran, but again her pace slowed. What a fatal flaw that was, for now she tripped over the root of a skillful hidden tree. Her body hit the iced-over, snow-covered ground, adding even more injuries to her collection. She touched her lip; seeing her blood on her hands shocked her, stilling her. She was bleeding everywhere, but for some reason that blood was what stilled her. That was her final fatal flaw because now she stopped running. Running had calmed her and now that was gone. A dry sob broke through her lips before the tears came. They broke so quickly they burned, blinding her.
She could think now. She knew to what her actions would lead. She knew she could hurt them all. But it had to be done; it was the only thing left to do. They would hate her. They wouldn’t understand. They would have told her there was another way, but there wasn’t. There just wasn’t. They wished for it to be innocent, clean, easy—but it couldn’t be. She knew there wasn’t another way. They knew there wasn’t another way. But they hoped, they prayed, but most of all, they feared. That they too were like her, that they too were only prolonging their agony. It wasn’t always like this. I promise you it wasn’t always like this. There use to be laughter and harmony, absolute and unfathomable harmony. They wanted that back. They needed that back. So she had to die today.
She heard it. She heard his foot upon the snow. Lifting herself from the ground with great ease, for she no longer hurt, she turned to him, all the anger in the world directed at him. He—with handsome red eyes and blond hair—he was the reason she would die today.
I am not sure if you are the most reckless girl I have ever met or the wisest.” His soft, gentle voice rang out—his voice never much higher than a whisper. It was a deceiving voice. It was the voice of a friend, a brother, a father; it was a voice of someone who cared.
This you won’t win. Haven’t you heard? Light always wins. You scare and you terrify, but in the end light always wins. So you are the most reckless man I have ever met, for trying to do the same thing so many others have tried and failed to do,” she told him through her own tears.
He simply circled her before speaking again. “Now who lied to you, my dear? There is no such thing as failure. I have simply discovered ways that did not work.”
She looked forward, not speaking to the man behind her. There was no point wasting the few precious breaths she had left. Her tears flowed from her eyes, rolling down her cheeks like miniature waterfalls. He was the reason she would die today.
How tragic it is that you will not be alive for me to impart such a lesson upon you.” That was the last thing she heard before the darkness came. She hoped; she truly hoped she did not die today for nothing.
