Shot In The Dark 357 Raised The Roof at the Howard VFW

Shot In The Dark 357 did it again! They rocked a full house at the Howard VFW this past Saturday night for Ladies Night.

Singing some of the fans favorites which included:
Broken, Devils Dust, Hit Me With Your Best Shot, I'm Here For The Party and much more. The fans were still wanting more at the end of the night.

In Spite of Ourselves was performed by Chris Schenck and Dena Mackey whom did a fabulous job and had the crowd cheering.








Introducing "AJ" as the female vocalist for the night, where she surprised many of the fans by playing the drums too. AJ did a fantastic job and brought a tremendous energy that the crowd seemed to really enjoy.











Special Appearance by Matt Keiter, Country Artist formerly from Vermont. He now resides in Central Pennsylvania and travels to Nashville quite often for live performances. He got quite the response from Shot In The Dark 357 fans singing Hank Williams and left them with hopes of seeing more from him.

Peckerwood Twist by Nathan Lichtwar; *****

I loved Peckerwood Twist by Nathan Lichtwar. This title has a phenomenal plot with an amazing and unexpecting ending. Is it true or is it not? You will have to read this book to find out!

Sam Paris is a Vietnam War Veteran, a drunk, and a patron at a local bar called Peckerwood. Not much unusual happens at the Peckerwood, so when new faces appear, they are hard to go unnoticed.

Harry and his gorgeous wife walk into Peckerwood demanding to receive a case of the famous Peckerwood Hot Sauce. Turning heads with their every step, they walk to the end of the bar where Sam happens to be sitting. Coincidence? It turns out Harry is a journalist looking for a new hot story, and he's willing to compensate well for it. Sam, who's a little down on his luck, (or isn't he?), agrees to give Harry a story as long as he keeps the beers coming.

As Harry and Sam move to a private table, while Harry's wife amuses the other patrons, Sam starts his story about his Amazon adventure.

Follow Sam through small towns, raging rivers, being hunted, and dense jungle as he tells his tale of how he met a beautiful woman named Ursula, how he became a man of interest, and his struggle to survive the jungle of the Amazon.

Lichtwar did an excellent job in Peckerwood Twist! Throwing in some great humor with constantly guessing what is a reality and what is not, this title has enough adventure and mystery to keep you anxious to turn the pages!

This is one title I would love to see become a movie and I hope to see more of Nathan Lichtwar. I highly recommend Peckerwood Twist giving it

I Don't Want to be Your Guru, but I Have Something to Say by Joyce Shafer is one of the most inspirational and uplifting reads I have had the pleasure of reading.

A.J. sets out on her travels in hopes of finding a man she had met ten years earlier in a small town diner. When she arrives to the same small town, the only thing left from her memory are a small house and the gas station.

When the owner of the gas station appears, she sees a similarity but realizes he is not the same man she seeks. When she asks about "Old Bill" finds she is face to face with his son, Bud.

Bud leads her to where "Old Bill", where A.J. is not faced with the old man but his grave. As she is enveloped with sorrow that she didn't make it back before his death, she becomes confused by the dates on his head stone.

Bud invites her into the house to meet his wife Esther and to hear how A.J. came to know his father.

They settle in at the kitchen table with apple pie and coffee, where a confused A.J. tells her tale.

I Don't Want to be Your Guru, but I Have Something to Say really gets you thinking. If you're confused about life, this title is surely going to enlighten you. Full of suggestions on how to change your way of thinking to make life a little easier, learning how to tell the difference between a "reaction" and a "response", you're going to see a straighter path. Shafer did a magnificent job as a life coach and really opens your eyes to a brighter future.

****1/2 Read & Review of Friday on the Trail by Jim Bondy

Friday on the Trail by Jim Bondy was a fascinating read! I loved the pictures, giving you a wonderful visual of the story being told.

Follow Jim and his family on a hiking adventure. Through forests, cliffs, rain and snow this adventure will make you feel like you are actually there. With added humor to keep the story alive, this is a joyful tale. What do you use when it rains and your equipment fails? Duct tape of course! What if you don't have anything to eat off of? How about a flat rock?

You will learn things you didn't know if you're not into the hiking world, how the title came to be, as well as love the story. Very insightful. I also loved the water purifier. Who knew?

Jim did a great job with this title. It was like being in a room with him while he told of his experiences. Like "Campfire Tales". I enjoyed this read and loved the pictures of the trails. Gives great perspective to difficult terrain.
