Today my guest is Louise Wise, author of Eden, a journey into the past.
Thank you so much for stopping in today Louise....
Please introduce yourself....
I live in Northampton, close to where the late Princess Diana grow up, in England. I'm married to Dave and have four children all boys.
Tell us about your book....
Eden was an experimental novel and was never meant to see the
light of day! But I sent it out and received many rejections back. The rejections mainly stated
that the novel was just too original for the current market. An agent finally took it on but failed
to find a publisher for it. Instead of being downhearted, I became confident in myself as a
writer. I think you could say, Eden was the turning point in my writing career.
How did your title come into play?
The title chose itself really, What does Eden conjure up? To me it's a fresh new world or young earth.
Do you relate to your characters in any way?
No. I'm a home body, you wouldn't catch me in a spaceship light-years from home! But like my character Jenny I am a romantic.
What inspired you to pen this novel?
It's a cliché and you'll not believe me. It was a dream. I dreamed of the moon landings and poor old Buzz got left behind. In my dream I was Buzz and I could feel myself suffocating as the air ran out whilst watching the
Apollo vanishing into the dark space. I thought it such an unusual dream that I wondered about it constantly and it grew from there.
What dreams have been realized as a result of writing Eden?
As I said earlier, it has given me confidence to believe in myself. Without Eden I wouldn't be here talking to you today, I wouldn't have met other writers and I wouldn't have overcome my Internet fear and produced a successful blog!
What do you hope your readers take away from your book?
I hope they have been entertained.
What advice can you give to new and aspiring writers?
Don't think your first book is brilliant. It isn't. Your third or fourth book is the one you should be concentrating on.
What is one thing your readers would be most surprised to know about you?
I have a secret crush on Boris Johnson. Google him, you'll fall off your chair!
Do you have a website your readers can connect with you?
